I’ve been working on something a little different over the weekend.
Cookie and Creams has been up a while now, which is great, but I’ve decided I want to take things to the next level and become more serious about blogging. I love to write, especially about makeup, and I love coming here when I’m having a bad day to vent to you.
But this simple site wasn’t really doing it for me anymore. I really wanted to experiment with different plugins, themes and ideas. I wanted to take things to the next level for you guys, and me. I really wanted to be able to look back at the end of 2016 and say that I’d achieved something.
So with that in mind I set to work this past weekend. I deleted the posts I didn’t like anymore, created a new signature and moved everything to the brand new site: The Rachel Cooke.
My social media links are all remaining the same – so you don’t have to hunt around for a new Facebook, Twitter or Instagram!
If you’ve enjoyed what you’ve read here at Cookie and Creams please take a second to head over to the new site and subscribe because after today I won’t be posting here at all anymore.
Thank you for all of your amazing support, encouragement and advice. I love you all, and I hope that I see you over on the new site.
I don’t really get to share my outfit of the day with you guys very often so when I do it’s always special. However, today’s outfit is extra special because it means I get to share an exclusive discount code with you!
My style is girly, gothic, minimal, trashy and everything in between. One day I’m in a cocktail dress and stilettos, the next I’m in a slouchy tee and converse; you really can’t predict what the next day will bring when it comes to my dress sense. But that’s what I love about style; it’s fluidity. You can wear whatever you want for whatever reason. Whether it be art, comfort or just because it makes you feel pretty. I think that this is why my outfits are always so varied; because I view it as a form of expression.
Anyway, on to today’s outfit.
I went to the Louth Christmas Market with my Mum, Dad, Auntie Pat and Uncle Derek today so I wanted to look put together but still with a bit of my signature ‘mess’ in there. To achieve this I thew on my favourite CAT boots, a pair of black skinny jeans and a slouchy grey jumper. But I think that the thing I really loved most about this outfit was the accessories.
Now on to the exciting bit! The amazing Victora of Lylia Rose was kind enough to give me an exclusive discount code for all of my readers just in time for some last minute Christmas gift shopping, and it never expires. Just head to http://www.lyliarose.com and pick out some of the gorgeous accessories (all of which are already under £15,) head to the checkout, enter my code COOKIECREAMS and bag yourself 20% off!
The day is here people! I finally managed to get my first video up on YouTube. After 2 attempts at uploading and much frustration it is now officially live on my channel.
As you can tell I was a little bit nervous about filming this video but I think my geeky streak came through!
So for those at you who haven’t been here that long I’ve actually been hinting at this for quite a while. I’ve always wanted to get into YouTube and create a channel that could be joint with my blog. Obviously at the moment I don’t actually have a channel banner, so if anyone has any tips for me in that department please let me know! But other than that I’m quite happy with how everything has turned out.
If you’d like to see more videos from me please don’t forget to subscribe to my channel and like the video. For my next one I’m thinking about doing ‘My Eczema Story’ what do you think? Does that sound like something you’d like to watch?
If you’re already on YouTube please leave a link to your channel below so that I can check it out!
I recently shared with you my Autumn/Winter Fashion Wishlist – which surprisingly actually inspired me to get my bum into gear and grab some cosy winter clothes. Not surprising; I changed my mind and didn’t purchase anything off the list!
So with that in mind, I decided to share my first ever clothing haul with you. (Check out my first ever haul here.) I think I’ve picked some really cute items that incorporate some of the latest fashion trends but also look mega comfy. Plus, it’s all super affordable from high street stores!
There you have it for my Autumn/Winter Clothing Haul! I think we can all agree that I’ll be much better prepared for the harsh winter weather. Have you made any last minute purchases for the winter months?
I’m always aiming high, and although this wishlist is a little out of my reach right now I’m not going to write it off and give up! We all have big brands that we lust after and probably don’t have the big bucks to splash out on right now. So, to encourage us all to aim high and never give up on our dreams here is my designer fashion wishlist.
Mulberry handbags have been a serious designer lust of mine since I first discovered them thanks to the likes of celebrity style features in magazines like Glamour and Look. This plain black tote bag is all kinds of gorgeous and I’m sure I could make it work with any outfit!
Arguably one of the biggest icon’s of British style and design these trench coats breathe classy chic. Wear them with heels and an LBD or skinny jeans and your favourite pair of pumps – there is no look they can’t pull off.
Daniella Draper is a fairly local designer to me (she has a store in Cleethorpes) and just recently I have fallen in love with every single one of her designs. She does create more affordable jewellery but since this wish list is supposed to be out of my reach I chose this gorgeously simple diamond necklace.
For Love and Lemons is my absolute favourite designer right now! All of their designs are so effortlessly sexy and they offer a wide range of looks from festival chic to evening glam. If I could I would love this dress for date night or special occasions!
Jeans are probably my biggest wardrobe staple. I wear them almost everyday and everywhere; from work to a night out. They can be styled so many different ways and I love the loose fitting style of these perfect boyfriend jeans!
So there you have my designer fashion wishlist! What are your favourite designers and what would be on your list?
This is my first look of the day so please bear with me if it’s not quite up to scratch. I was feeling girly this morning so I decided to go with simple makeup and a bold berry lip.
To complement this I decided to wear my hair simple yet chic. A half up half down mini bun is so easy to create in minutes and it looks gorgeous. To do this I combed through all of my hair (dried naturally the night before) and sectioned off the top from my forehead to my crown. Then I twisted this section and curled it round to create a bun. To secure it I simply pinned it in place using bobby pins and sprayed a small amount of hairspray to combat fly away hairs.
As you can probably tell by yesterday’s post I am well and truly in the mood for summer! So I thought I’d share my excitement with you and get into the spirit by showing you the gorgeous summery shoes I’m lusting after. I am a self confessed heel addict and it’s only recently that my eczema has calmed down enough for me to wear them so prepare yourself for some gravity defying style!
These gorgeous heels are almost an exact match for the Valentino Rockstud’s which have already been so popular this season, and they are only £25! I love the edgy studded detail and caged design, plus the heel height isn’t too high so I could even work these into my casual and work wardrobes. They are available at an online clothing boutique called Fearlesss which I only recently discovered but I’ve made a couple of purchases so far and I am seriously in love.
Block heel sandals are fast becoming a major addiction for me and I love this gorgeous pair from Public Desire! The nude colour with the gold block heel is so fresh and girly but still glamorous. I can imagine wearing them with anything from slouchy girlfriend jeans to a frilly sundress. Anything with a little height and you have me sold.
Like I said high heels are my religion so I had to include just one more pair, these lasercut heels from Missguided are so edgy and chic I’d want to wear them to work every day! Plus they are featured in the get inspired Kim Kardashian edit which just makes me lust after them even more.
So there you have my summer footwear wishlist. Clearly if I get my way I will be teetering about all summer! What footwear are you lusting after for summer?
