Hi, I’m Rachel.
I’m 21, a passionate beauty and fashion addict, doggy Mummy and skin allergy sufferer.
It is only in recent years that I have suffered with allergies and eczema. Something I thought, as many do, wouldn’t affect me as I had breezed through childhood and my early teens without even a symptom or clue that something could be wrong. Much to my dismay, two years ago in the summer of 2013 I began to develop severe eczema on my eyelids, underarms, feet and legs. Something which was initially dismissed by my Doctors and was only put down to allergies when, in the summer of 2014 I was sent for patch testing.
It was then that I discovered my allergies to perfume, limonene, linalool, methylchloroisothiazolinone , methylisothiazolinone, nickel, heyxl cinnamal and various other ingredients found in the majority of everyday products. My world was turned upside down, as a young woman addicted to beauty and fashion everything was changing. I had to give away all of my precious makeup, haircare, skincare and use gloves for simple tasks such as washing up. Not to mention, my family had to make some major adjustments in terms of cleaning products and routines to accommodate me.
This blog is a record of my trials and tribulations as a skin allergy sufferer. What products work for me, which ones don’t, places to seek advice and small changes you can make to your lifestyle to help relieve you from suffering severe symptoms. More than anything it is a release, somewhere I can look back on my high and low points, something that will help me to feel more normal when my allergies are getting the best of me.
P.S. That’s me, on the left.
